“I dropped out in the second grade and I even know that this thing is a metaphor.” – Escobar

As some shows reach the end of their run, they often aren’t able to properly address many of their most important lingering plots. Either the show is canceled abruptly and hardly anything gets answered or if it was a hit, network economics kick in and the show runs so long that what does or doesn’t get answered is never enough for the fans that stuck it out.

Nip/Tuck,’ however, seems to have entered its final season with a bit of a happy medium — seven seasons is still a long run for a drama, but Ryan Murphy and Co. have never let fans forget about the original sin that started it all. In the same way that the bullet Vic Mackey put in Terry Crowley’s face in the pilot episode of ‘The Shield‘ became crucial during that show’s final season, it’s looking more and more like all those hams that Sean and Christian bought in the ‘Nip/Tuck’ series premiere might be the very thing that ends up driving them apart.

Of course, I’m referring to the cover up of Silvio Perez’s murder. If you recall, he molested Escobar Gallardo’s six year old daughter and got facial reconstruction from McNamara/Troy to help him get away. Escobar found out, but so did Silvio’s brother Alejandro and he eventually killed him. Left with a body to clean up (and a connection with Escobar that lasted until the end of season four) Sean and Christian wrapped Silvio’s body in about a dozen honey-glazed spiral hams and threw him in the Everglades. For ten years they had gotten away with it.

Now a teenager, Escobar’s daughter Aurelia is back looking for answers about her childhood. Therapy has brought out many memories about her father, her mother Gala, and her uncle Silvio — just not what he did to her. Sean, in his continuing effort to do the right thing, eventually told Aurelia what happened to her, though he did leave out the part about how he got rid of her father’s body the exact same way that he got rid of Silvio’s. Despite Sean’s show of goodwill, Aurelia seemed to want justice just as bad as Sean, and now her testimony has the Feds digging into the past. With four episodes left, who wants to bet they’re able to find something?

Of course it doesn’t help that ‘Virginia Hayes’ ended with the mother of all “same sh*t, different day” scenarios as the two surgeons were forced to get rid of another body, a woman who had stolen the identity of the episode’s title character. It’s an apt metaphor if you think about it — for all these years, in a way, Christian has stolen Sean’s identity. Just as we saw last week when Curtis accused Sean of sleeping with his wife, Sean might as well be Christian because the rest of the world treats him like he is. But, as they buried Marci’s body together, there was Sean, once again, doing something he didn’t want to do that Christian got him into. Surprising as it may be, Sean still hasn’t reached his breaking point. But you know it’s coming.

Nip/Tuck – Vet Reacts To A Shocking Death

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

Nip/Tuck fans were shocked by last week’s episode, which saw troubled hooker Kimber Henry (Kelly Carlson) take a fatal plunge into the ocean. Among those with their jaws dropped – Kelly’s longtime co-star, Jessalyn Gilsig, whose character Gina was killed off in a similar style. Jessalyn claims Ryan Murphy, who created Nip/Tuck and her new hit, Glee, “always knew all our fates. Always. From the day he created Nip/Tuck. Both Kimber and Gina were such vulnerable people, living at a speed that couldn’t be sustained. Just think of all Kimber had been through. You almost feel it was right to release her from so much pain.”

Jessalyn reminds that Gina died when she “was having relations with Christian on the building and then he thrust too hard and I fell off.” What do you suppose that says about Murphy’s feelings toward women? “I don’t know,” says Jessalyn. “But I’m not going to the edge of any buildings on Glee!”

In the final minutes of last night’s Nip/Tuck, Kimber took a suicidal dive into the ocean, leaving her fate uncertain. Will she be picked up by a fishing boat? Wake up and ask for a margarita? Or is our favorite dysfunctional bombshell really a goner? SPOILER ALERT: She’s dead. The first step in the grieving process is denial. The second is reading a Q&A with the dearly departed character’s portrayer — in this case, Kelly Carlson. The actress dished to EW.com’s Sandra Gonzalez exclusive deets about Kimber’s death, TV mom Melanie Griffith, and the end of Nip/Tuck.

A decoy script was passed around that had Kimber surviving the jump. How did you find out that she was actually dead?
KELLY CARLSON:
One of our writers told me. The truth is that Kimber was just supposed to be in the first episode, so this character wasn’t completely created before I got there. We all did it together. So Kimber is very close to my heart because I feel so responsible for creating her – just as much as anyone else. But truthfully, the show is ending, so I was totally fine (Laughs). But it’s still sad because I love her, and that character is very special to me.

What do you think led to Kimber’s demise?
CARLSON:
Kimber lets men define her. That explains a lot of her bad, bad choices. Christian or some guy is always defining her as a person. And when all the men are gone, she has to be gone. There’s no more story for her if the men aren’t there.

Did you think it was an appropriate ending?
CARLSON:
I think Kimber would absolutely have a tragic ending. Everything she does is tragic and also very predictable. She just never learns from her mistakes; it’s like Groundhog Day with her, and it ends up being kind of funny sometimes. I think she died a little too soon, but with that said, it’s not the end of seeing her. Kimber will still be there.

I heard rumors about that. Care to elaborate?
CARLSON:
She does come back, and kind of in Nip/Tuck style. Christian always has hauntings, right? So Kimber will come back as his subconscious really.

How do Christian and Sean react to her death?
CARLSON:
I wasn’t so concerned about Kimber and Sean because that’s just one of the affairs that always happens on Nip/Tuck. But with Christian, I know it deeply disturbed him, and he had some regrets. You’ll see him go through that process. And then the storyline immediately following with Melanie Griffith as my mother – I don’t know if I can say, but I’m telling you – he has an affair with her to find closure with Kimber. Kind of like a forgiveness coming from her mother.

What do you think of the casting of Melanie as your mom?
CARLSON:
It’s perfect because Melanie has this very demure softness to her. But at the same time, she’s a tough person underneath it all. And I see myself — not as demure — but something like that. And there’s a lot of me in Kimber. So I thought she was absolutely an appropriate cast for her.

Have you read the ending of Nip/Tuck? Will fans be satisfied?
CARLSON:
Yes. The very last scene — I can’t describe it — but the very last scene is great for me. It rounds out the show. I hope the audience will be satisfied. For me as an actor, it went start to finish and ended in a great place.

Reflection time: What’s the craziest thing you’ve had to do during the course of the show?
CARLSON:
I would have to give you like a top ten. I don’t know that I could pick one. I mean, wearing the fat suit and doing a sex scene was pretty nuts. It was a short scene, but a grueling process.

Last thoughts on Kimber?
CARLSON:
I know this is my last interview for Kimber (Laughs). So that’s bittersweet. I just loved playing her, and I hope to find a character as equally dynamic as her one day. But I dyed my hair black to put her to bed.

You didn’t!
CARLSON:
I did. Because no matter where I go, I look like Kimber, right? So I can’t really bring it to other shows. So, I dyed my hair dark, dark brown. That was sort of my, ‘Okay, Kimber. I love you. Goodbye.’
